CNC Milled Foam

Water eludes me…slips between my fingers…water escapes me yet marks me, and there is not a thing I can do about it.

– Francis Ponge, The Voice of Things, 1972

Following on from her monumental 2011 artwork Emotional Leak (a glass sculpture recording a drip from the ceiling of National Glass Centre), this new work represents Erin Dickson’s first exploration beyond her PhD research into glass and architectural phenomenology.

In Mould, a minor domestic annoyance is reimagined at a scale that cannot be ignored. The inevitable consequence of a leak, Mould is a magnified 3D model of water damage to her home in South Tyneside, a constant source of inspiration for her artwork.
